Scores range from 200-800 per section. The Scores are added so a perfect score is now 2400. Beginning in 2008, some colleges are considering the Writing Score. Check with the admissions office of the schools you are applying to.

The College Board will take the highest scores achieved from each section from all tests taken and combine for this for your official score. The College Board now allows students to choose which test results are sent to which school.

There is a ¼ point penalty for incorrect answers on the SAT.

Scores range from 1 to 36 per section. The overall score is the average of the 4 sections. A perfect score is 36.

Your official score is the overall best score from any ONE test. However, you choose which tests are sent to colleges. Some schools aggregate best scores across all tests.

There is no penalty for wrong answers on the ACT. Students should answer every question.
